Dr Lenin Gopal is currently an associate professor at the University of Southampton Malaysia (UoSM). He obtained his B.Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, India, in 1996, the M.Eng. degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Multimedia University, Cyberjaya, Malaysia, in 2006, and the Ph.D. degree from Curtin University, Bentley, WA, Australia, in 2015. His PhD was on investigating robust linear and non-linear transceiver design problems for wireless Multiple-Input Multiple-output (MIMO) relay communication systems with the assumption that the partial information of the channel is available at the relay node. The joint source and relay optimization problems for MIMO relay systems are highly nonconvex, in general. In his study, the problems were transformed into suitable forms which can be efficiently solved using standard convex optimization techniques. The proposed design schemes outperformed the existing techniques. Lenin was the principal investigator for a project on an efficient low power system-on-chip architecture funded by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI, Malaysia), and recently completed two led projects funded by FRGS Malaysia grant and Digital Sarawak CoE (DSCoE), SMA, Malaysia, Sarawak government grant. Lenin was General Chair for ICSCC 2019 and GECOST 2021. He is regularly invited to serve on technical programme committees (TPCs) of internationally leading electrical power and communication conferences; Currently he is General Chair for GEN-CITY. Lenin has graduated 7 PhD, and 8 MPhil students and currently supervises 5 PhD students; in the areas of Renewable Energy and Cooperative Communications.
